Main Stage Production Series
INTAR produces annually outstanding new works in English by Latino-American playwrights; interpretations of classics reflecting diverse contemporary perspectives; and collaborative productions in partnership with innovative, widely respected theaters around the country.
New Works Lab
This lab, developed and honed for over a decade, provides an opportunity for Latino playwrights of significant promise to advance their works-in-progress through workshops leading to public presentations. The lab creates a supportive professional environment for playwrights, directors, actors, and other theater artists, encouraging them to experiment, take risks, and collaborate.
Hispanic Playwrights in Residence
Participants in this lab, which was initiated by Maria Irene Fornes and is now directed by Eduardo Machado, include most Latino playwrights produced in America during the past decade. The lab focuses on characterization, storytelling, and dramatic structuring, as it builds participants' resources for further developing their playwriting skills.
Actor's Collective
About: This project is INTAR's most recent programming initiative, bringing together actors of diverse origins for intensive, focused work to identify obstacles limiting their professional development and to collaborate on effective ways of overcoming these obstacles. At the conclusion of their guided work, participating actors may design and undertake a range of follow-up activities.
